I’ve really been enjoying throwing smaller swimbaits lately and have been thinking about getting a rod to throw bigger ones. I plan on throwing S-Waver 168s, Gantarel Jrs, 6” Hudds, and A-rigs. Nothing over 2.5-3oz. I’m putting a 7.4 Curado 200K on it so I’m pretty much limited to that weight with my reel.

Some rods I’m considering are:

 

Dobyns Fury 795sb

Daiwa DX 8’ MHF

Irod Genesis III 783sb

St. Croix BassX 7’10” HF

After looking at the different brands, I took a look at the Irod swimbait rods. And after reading all the positive reviews, I bought one, after using it a few times, I bought 2 more of their swimbait rods, and yet another for a different use.

Customer service is next to none. I do like the EVA grips also.

So, I'm pretty much sold on them for the value they have.

Dobyns 795 would handle all of those just fine, but the 806 would also be worth considering. I use the 795 for big wakebaits like PB rats, MS Slammers, etc and the 806 for mid-sized glide baits. I don't have any experience with Irod's but from everything I've heard they're also solid as Hammer mentioned.

You can’t go wrong with Irod swimbait Gen 111 rods and Matt Newman is only a phone call away. I also like Gary Dobyns swimbait rod in the Champion series, heavier overall weight but out of your price point.
