FishTax
I'm in a bit of a slump this year, the way I handle is to fish ponds, or switch species. I can usually catch a crappie anywhere, and just need to touch a fish to feel successful some days.

Better fishing is right around the corner. I don’t think there’s any secret here that cold water and winter combined with a warm water species of fish is not a great route to success. If it was May and we were all complaining about slumps and a lack of bites, then we might be on to something. Right now it’s obvious that the conditions are playing a role. 2
Super User Bird Posted March 6 Super User Share Posted March 6 Yes, slumps this time of year are mainly due to cold water. I've caught 1 bass in the last 10 hrs of fishing due to cold water. If you're still slumping in May then take up gulf 😂. Seriously though, don't watch YouTube videos where they catch a bass every cast breaking through ice on a lipless..... unrealistic.
Pat Brown
I really wish we had more small public ponds because yesterday mine was pretty darn full when I got there after work being 72° and sunny. That's the main reason I like cold water. Usually means cold air which means I get the pond mostly to myself for two months. 🥹
