fluoro backlash

Featured Replies

I was planning on getting bps xps fluorocarbon for my baitcaster, since i've been reading that everything about fluorocarbon is better than mono except the price. but then I heard that they cause a lot more backalshes than mono. Is this true?

Not in my experience, backlashes are produced by the angler not by the line, do something stoopid and the beast will turn back and bite you.

The only reason why I gave up on fluoro is that I can 't see the line well against the water.

this is one time i have to dissagree with you raul!!!most flouros are stiffer than most mono lines and there for do not cast as well.seguar is the most flexible flouro from what i have heard from guys who use flouro but stretch tests have proven it stretchs more than mono.that leaves you with the only advantage is the invisibilty factor.

im gonna have to disagree with you dodgeguy.  i have been using only floro's and co-polymers lately, and the other day i spooled up some mono and it was stiff as a board.  i cant beleive i fished with it

i said most not all.cajun red lightning is the stiffest line i have ever seen and it is a mono.ocean guys love it for trolling.it casts worse than any line i have ever used.on the other end of the spectrum is cajun red cast which is nice and limp and casts great.

flourocarbon is stiffer than mono, which means more backlashes.  Some of the new lines they are coming out with this year are less stiff.

I agree with you 100% Raul
