Daiwa rebellion spinning heavy

Featured Replies

Anyone familiar with this rod. They label it as a heavy and rightfully so. But the lure rating  goes down to an eighth. I’m just wondering if anyone’s used it. I’m looking to use it for like five and six inch weightless senkos ,  maybe some shaky head, Texas rigs.

REBELLION 701HRS
  • 1 piece rod
  • 7ft length
  • 8 + tip guides
  • 1/8 - 1oz lure weight (3.5 - 28g)
  • 14 - 25lb line weight

I use a Medium for Weightless Senkos. I also run 8 or 10# test though too.

I was looking for a medium heavy rod. That’s why I was asking. I know they put the carbon wrap on this one so that’s might be why it’s a heavy.

I don't own that particular model, however I do the ML-F spinning and MH-R casting rods in the Rebellion line. They are both very nice rods, well built, and sensitive. I find their respective Lure rating to be accurate. My rods are both two piece models.

I own the rebellion 7'11 heavy casting rod and I would say that they have great models for all styles of fishing.

The tip on mine has great give up to about 9 inches and progressively gets faster until about a third, then it really stiffens up. So it is a heavy, but with a much more sensitive tip than the typical heavy.

It's my heavy swimbait rod but I'll probably throw plenty of punch rings and heavy Texas rigs with it.

Just hoping to revive this thread because I'm also interested to hear from anyone with experience with this exact model.

I have the 701HRS, and use it for popping corks. It will absolutely bomb my popping cork set up and loads up nicely because of the regular action tip. It should be able to throw 1/4oz, but not quite sure about 1/8oz.

I did some quick Polish math. 5” Senko 10 grams. 1/8 oz weight- 3.54 grams. I couldn’t find the weight of EWG hook.
I’m thinking a rod rated up to 5/8 oz would be good to go.
