Brake case assembly

Featured Replies

Hey,

So that metal/brass collar that is in the brake case assembly that fits into the spool when you put the side plate back on for shimano reels....should I be adding a small drop of oil to that or a bit of grease? I just realized when I was maintaining a couple reels I left that collar alone/dry. Thanks

I know it's an older SVS infinity brake blocks in the video below, but I do this to my reels once in a while.

WARNING: Reel could backlash a few casts after doing this so make sure the brakes are at max after oiling. 😁 (just my experience).

As Shimano reel manuals mention, add one drop of oil to the brake drum before trips.
