what applications do you guys prefer split grip rods?

If I could afford one I would use it for everything. The Split grip design makes the rod lighter and would be beneficial in any situation.

I use split grips for anything that I'm not constantly reeling......flippin rod,texas rig rod,c-rig rod and all my spinning rods.I dont think they are necessary on crankbait or spinnerbait rods where the fish just jump on your lure all at once and feeling the bite isnt real important.

The entire line of Kistler Magnesium TS rods are split grips and at 180 they are quite affordable.

I have never used one, but my neighbor uses them exclusivley. He had one made by mitchell, but broke it after many years. He now has a shimano crucial, and he even cuts the cork on some rods to expose the blank.

I do not like split grip because I use two hans for casting and they do not feel right. Now the no-foregrip is a different story, every worm, pithchin, etc rod I own does not have a foregrip.

Theoretically the split grip is better for an accurate two hand cast.   When you grab the end of a split grip rod you automatically grip it the same way every time.  The rear grip should just fit in your hand. Having the same grip on the rod every time makes casting more consistant.  I am slowly working to all split grips. ;D

i use em on all applications love the balnce and feel,one day all my rods will be s.g. and no fore grip.mine are g-blanks and kistler mag.ts.
