How do y’all fish Berkley Gillys?

Featured Replies

I’ve had a pack of gillys for a while and finally used one the other day. I Texas rigged it with the hook in sideways so it comes in on its side. Jerking it makes it look like a dying bluegill. Didn’t catch anything on it but I liked the action.

anyone use these with any success? And how do you rig them?

@Siebert Outdoors weedless ned jig head.  They work just fine.

Fish them the way you said either weightless or with a nail weight around bluegill beds, on different moon phases the bluegill will return to their beds for most of the year. It does good then too.

I havent tried skipping one yet, but i think theres some bass at my one lake that would bite it if i could get it to the hard to reach areas under the docks.

I hook it "inline" by their directions and put a small nail weight in the belly to give it a very slow sink. Twitch/swim it back.

Love the action but havent caught a thing on it yet.

No Free Rig love with these?

There's a brief video on Youtube with underwater footage with someone throwing these on a Free Rig.

My son got a pack of them and has wanted to catch something on one pretty bad. We haven’t had any luck yet either.
