I do mostly bass fishing in lakes and rivers with low visibility,usaly in weeds, i have a medium action shakespeare catera spinning rod and reel. what line should i use?

If you are talking about heavy weeds you might want to try a 20/6 braid.

Not heavy weeds. Grass on the bottom. ive tried trilene xl,xt, stren original and berkley vanish. These worked ok but they didnt hold up well when in weeds and rocks.

                       

#8 BPS Excel in low vis green for the rod and reel you had mentioned. I use this on my customers rods for brown bass in a rocky river and the abrasion resistance is great. This line has a high break strength for #8 in which is more like 11 or so pound breaking strength.

if you want a braid use sufix.if you want a mono try cajun RED CAST.

line "A" might work great for one guy and not the next

I know when you walk into a takle shop and look at all the different lines you this "where do I start"

well, you alread have. You know a few lines a that you have tried are OK, but not what you are looking for. get a note pad and write down the line name and size and color. What you liked and disliked. Which one did you like the most? use that line as  starting point. try some different lines ( maybe ones guys suggested) is it better than the one you like so far. write it down. If it is better than your other line. Now that is your new starting point. Just try new lines, you might like them or not. line change from year to year. You change. What you don't like now, you might later.

the line you have tried. You said "they don't hold up in rocks and weed". well other guys might fish them in rooks and weeds and they hold up for them. It could be your fishing style. each line is different.

One more question you say they don't old up. you mean you lose fish? they break? what?

Are you retieing offten? I don't mean between every cast, but are you stripping about 10 feet or so of line off and retieing a few times a day? If you don't do this no line hold up.

There is no "best" line, just "favorite" line.

HPBB summed it up pretty good.

I use big game for most situations... what is a good braid to start with anyway?  why do I see some anglers fishing in slop with  65 pound test line? what are they trying to catch,  king neptune?

sufix braid is the best imho.they use thicker braid because it is less prone to digging in and gives more abrasion resistance.
