2018 Shimano Aldebaran MGL & 2022 Aldebaran BFS - Frame Material

Featured Replies

I'm confused what the frame material is on the 2018 Aldebaran MGL and 2022 Aldebaran BFS.

I thought the frames were made of magnesium, but all I can find is Hagane, which to me doesn't mean anything than an aluminum frame.

Anyone chime in what the frame material is for both reels?

Hagane isn't a material - it's a design concept

HAGANE is Shimano's reel design concept which aims at “eternally smooth reeling.”

To directly answer the question - probably Magnesium for the weight reduction over aluminum...as either can be used in the HAGANE concept.

"The Hagane body is made of highly rigid metals such as aluminum and magnesium."

Thanks MN Fisher, I'm going with magnesium for the body of both Aldebaran mentioned. Both are very light in weight, I reckon it can't be aluminum.

I have both of them, but I need 24 hours to get back home and check it for you.
