Metanium Questions

Featured Replies

I have 3 metaniums. Two of the 2020 MGLs and one shallow edition. Im looking at the 2023 Metanium 100 and wanted to see if its the same size as the other two. This is the only one that i see is the 100 size and it is actually lighter than the others.
thanks

I have the USDM 150 and JDM 100, both spooled at the moment unfortunately so I can't take calipers to them, but I'm 90% certain the spools are identical.

Latest Metanium series basically are all the same size and share the same frame and side plates. The only difference is the spool size, gear material and handle length.

Shallow edition should be the lightest due to its aluminum gear.

24 DC 70 also has the aluminum gear but slightly wider because of its modified brake side plate, which is now Ci4.

When I first got the 100, I thought it was a slightly different size than the 2020 but they are the same. The odd thing the 100 feels and fishes differently than the 2020. I can't really explain it but mine is slightly smoother and cast further than 2020. Both fun reels though. I use the 2020 for jigs and the 100 for spinnerbaits and bladed jigs.

Thanks man. I have two of the 20s. One of them casts further than the other and requires substantially more braking.
