Question about switching out

My normal routine is generally to go from fast to slow in terms of presentations.  I prefer to power fish with an aggressive tactic.  Its just how I prefer to fish.  Its pretty easy to tell if that isn't working though, doesn't take very long.

I'll give you an example.  One particular lake, the largemouth stack up under docks.  When I start in the morning, I can usually catch a few of them burning a spinnerbait along the sides because the sun is low in the sky, and hasn't created a very established shade line yet.  As the sun rises, the shade line moves, and so do the fish.  They seek relief from the sun and become less willing to chase.  That's when I switch over to a plastic presentation that is more thoroughly worked under and around these docks.

If there is a specific lure or presentation that you are hell bent on figuring out, you could do the extreme: bring that and only that with you.  You literally would not have any other option than to use that one.  I've never really gotten to that point though.
