Garmin Echomap 64cv or Lowrance Hook Reveal 7 Tripleshot

Featured Replies

I’m looking for a cheap bow graph. Doesn’t need to do anything crazy. Plan to hook it up to the US2 on the Fortrex so I just want depth and GPS.

These two are around $300 right now. Anyone have any insight? Mostly on the Garmin.

So I have went straight Garmin from lowrance.  I would jump up to the 73 echomap that way if you ever want to network it and go all garmin(or opt in ffs) you have a compatible unit. By far easy to navigate and operate, I know on my units I have the upgraded chip that let's me offset water levels which is nice and the charts are detailed as well.

Thank you @gulfcaptain! I’ve only run Lowrance but have never really been impressed. Decision made!

I just got a garmin echomap 93sv for the yak about a month ago. Never used any electronics ever. So nothing to compare to. But I love it. Was pretty intuitive, was able to figure it out with no knowledge of these things pretty quickly. Iv been thoroughly impressed.

The 73 also has the quick release bracket which is nice not having to plug and unplug units everytime you have to remove the graphs

I've had them all on one boat or another. Personally I like Lowrance the best.

Get every inch of screen you can afford.

I played with the 3 brands for a good 2 hours in the store before I made my purchase.

1)Garmin/Hbird

2)Lowrance

Sonar quality I felt Hbird was the best with an extremely close 2nd/3rd from the other 2 in no particular order. One of the big points against Lowrance was its ease of use. Getting to the settings and changing things around for me was the absolute least intuitive. Price and the preloaded maps ultimately sold me on the Garmin but I wouldnt shy away from a good deal on Hbird or if Garmin wasnt available at the time. '

Agreed with the others, get as big as you can afford/fit.
