kickyour_bass
Today I got my new Dobyns Sierra in. I paired it with my Piscifun Carbon 2. I found old line in a tackle box. I can't afford much rn. It is 12lb copolymer. I took the rod and reel immediately to where I catch smallies almost every time. 3/16 oz weight with zoom cotton candy worm curly tail. One thing I noticed is that if the drag is too loose it will click while reeling in just the bait and weight. We'll when I tightened it it just horsed the bass in. It wasn't really a fight. I do love the rod. The reel is good. But is there anything I can do to solve the issue for the reel, or just keep it a little tighter on the drag? The labor day purchases I got were these 4 reels and 2 Dobyns rods: Piscifun Torrent 2 6.6:1 Torrent 2 8.1:1 (or something close) 2 Carbon X 2 Dobyns Kaden CB Casting 7 4 med hvy fast Sierra 7ft med hvy fast. Apparently my pics are too big to upload.
Eric 26
I’m going to assume you’re referring to the Carbon X 2 spinning reels? I have 3 of the original Carbon X reels and have had zero issues for the past 4 seasons. My first suggestion would be to see if it’s both reels or just the one, then contact Piscifun about replacing one or both. If that doesn’t work out then I would suggest finding someone who is local that works on reels and explain what the issue is as Piscifun offers zero parts support but if it’s the drag washers someone who works on reels will have no problem finding replacement washers. Lastly you may want to reach out to site sponsor DVT as he may be able to help you over the phone. Best of luck and keep us posted.

As soon as I get more, or decide if the small amount is worth putting on ill try the 2nd rod. Maybe I should add the 2 washers they sent? Eric 26
Now I’m definitely confused 🤔 When you say washers they sent I believe you’re referring to shims which are used for proper line spooling. Did you by chance take something apart before spooling? Lastly are you saying the drag is all or nothing no matter how you adjust it? If so I’m definitely recommending contacting Piscifun for a replacement or return.

If I do an extra click it isn't a fight for the fish. If it's where I think the drag should be set just reeling in the bait the reel makes the drag sound. I could just keep it where it is, but then it isn't much of a fight I guess. Idk. Maybe I'm just being peculiar.
little giant
Drag stack may have been assembled wrong, drag washers may need lubed?? I'm just guessing.....
Super User WRB Posted September 13 Super User Share Posted September 13 If you removed the spinning reel spool and reinstalled it the problem maybe the spool drag isn’t seated onto the shaft pin. Take the spool off and install it correctly making sure the spool engages the drive shat pin, then tighten the drag nut, Tom
