I'm sure surveying our waters isn't a huge priority with state money and resources being spread so thin.

Just like Las Vegas    ...... what happens in the water ....

The less public information about the waters I fish the better.  Right @Mr. Aquarium!

Yes sir!!! Don’t need to see 5 or 10 boats at your spot!  It’s one thing to have big lakes, but those smaller ponds don’t need that pressure.

Some of my best ever fishing days were with White Spinnerbaits, dual Colorado silver blades.

White works just fine in the Northeast... especially topwaters and spinnerbaits.

Shad are limited, but a lot of northeastern lakes have herring, which are similar to shad (and make bass get fat too). But even in lakes without herring I have had luck with various spinnerbait colors. I’ve gotten a few on white and silver but one of my most productive colors has been sexy shad (blue and white with some yellow)

When I started fishing for NE lmb about three years ago, I used a lot of silver and white soft plastics. Now I prefer Chartreuse and white. The bass seem to prefer the latter, so I prefer it too. With hard lures, I go with white, black, and gold.

Correct that we don't have traditional "shad" like gizzards and threadfin. But we do have lots of shiners, landlocked alewives, normal alewives if you're in a fishery that dumps to the ocean, and the river systems also support american shad runs in the spring.

Typically I do not go for straight white, but silvers and golds to mimic shiners, and if I want to mimic alewife a little purple or blue secondary color.

I used to think the same. I have found dead shad on the banks of where I fish and was told they were gizzards. Just last week I actually snagged one when it bumped in to my magdraft. Really cool fish that makes me want to increase my bait size significantly. This body of water gets lots of herring, but I have not seen any american or hickory shad there (greater boston). Tight lines!

I find the profile and action is more important.  I've caught them on white, chartreuse, purples, green pumpkin etc.  I do find that at least in my lakes, gold blades work a little better, and yellow in general gets a little more attention.  That's purely anecdotal though, and not based on any actual observed pattern since its really just a junk fishing crap shoot any day anyway.

White spinnerbaits with silver willows have worked for me in 8 different states. Ponds, lakes, rivers both tidal and non-tidal worked in all of them.
