If you use snaps, are the front split rings on the line tie really necessary on jerkbaits like the Vision 110?

I'd say you can completely prevent it by using a quick clip. The only sharp spots are the ends of the wire and if your knot hits that, your baits already gone.

You're going to get a different answer from everyone. I don't have a brand preference, but I like the quick clip style like these instead of a traditional snap. I just buy whatever brand the local tackle shop has at the time I need to restock. Usually around the 20-30 lb range.

I have these, better than traditional snaps? These are what I use for my swimbait setup.

If I am bound & determined to use a snap instead of a split ring, what is the absolute best style/brand I can get for this application?

There are  baits that a snap can't be used because of line tie placement.  Those I use an oval split ring and tie direct to it.  I never attach a snap to a split ring.

I prefer them, but can't say they're necessarily better or worse. I prefer them over a traditional snap for three reasons:

  1. Speed. I can get these on and off a lure faster than a snap.
  2. Weedlessness. There's no tag end of wire sticking out to grab on to weeds like most traditional snaps have.
  3. Ease of use. These are much easier for me to get on and off a bait with my fat fingers compared to a traditional snap that has to be clipped and unclipped.

Agreed. Any experience with or knowledge of any Amazon brands? I have the AmySports, are all of those generics inferior to name brands?

I use their ball bearing swivels fishing for sharks and rays in the bay, never had any issues. I know it's a sample size of 1 but I'd put them with Nako and Reaction tackle as a "best of Amazon" brand.

Just scrolled through 4 years of Amazon orders to find the last time I ordered some off there. Those were from End Game Tackle Company, but looks like they're no longer around or no longer sell these. The last couple times I've bought them, was just random packs of the shelf of my local tackle shop. Some have been name brand, and some looked like they came straight from china. They've all worked fine for me.

You do not need a split ring if you are using a rounded snap like this. The split ring plus snap add extra weight to the bait. If the balance of the bait is critical use one or the other.
