Ice fishing rod has no reel seat!

Featured Replies

I know, I know...the lakes in NC aren't freezing over anytime soon but you never know.   ;D  Just for kicks, I purchased an ice fishing combo for 20 bucks and it just came in.  The rod has no reel seat.  I'm not kidding guys.

I thought the seat was underneath all the wrappings so after I took all the wrapping off, no seat.  What am I suppose to do now?

Thanks.

a lot are designed like that.  whip out your electrical tape and tape that sucker onto the rod.

If that were a full-size rod it would be called a "Tennessee Handle".  The best way to attach a reel to one is to use two different tapes.  First, place the reel where it's most comfortable.  Next, use strapping tape to attach the reel, making several tight wraps around each end of the reel foot.  Follow that up with electrical tape.  BPS used to sell a product called "Tommy Tape" that I have on my TN handled rods.

Tennesse handle Use Electical tape to secure the reel Find out where the reel is most comfortable and tape it on  :o
