fly fishing ....for bass?
I've landed about a 3lb smallie on a 6wt, not exactly a huge fish but definitely a good fight.

first fly fishing bass! (pic)
Bass fishing with a fly rod can be a lot of fun, I love it. Dont worry about the size of the fish, they will get bigger with time. Congrats on the first of many.

My first smallie
This was also posted in "Smallmouth Bass Fishing" Took a trip up to the Dan River, close to the Virginia line, to do some fly fishing for trout. I was fishing an epoxy ant in a deep hole, when I caught a small creek chub. While I was reeling him in something was attacking it and trying to eat it. I couldnt exactly make out what it was, but I assumed it was a trout. After seeing that, I tried to find a fly that would match the creek chub. The closest thing I had was a conehead kiwi muddler. I was letting the fly drift along the bottom when I felt like I had a snag and then my line took off. My first thought was that I had a nice sized trout. After getting him closer to the surface I saw that it was a nice sized smallie. He was an awesome fighter, now I know why people enjoy catching them so much.

Looking at shakey heads
I love that style of shakey heads, that is the exact one I use also. I mostly use a 1/8 oz.

Bass Pro Shops Crankin' Stick on sale
I would think that lb test line would be good. It will have the smaller diameter to get the crankbaits down to the right depth but will also be strong (16.5 lb breaking strength) and abrasion resistant.

Bass Pro Shops Crankin' Stick on sale
I used the same sale and bought myself a 6'6" ML to use for that same thing and I love it so far. Good rod for a very good price.

Medium Light 7' casting rod.
I have a 6'6" ML casting rod that I use for topwater and shallow (<4 ft) crankbaits. I wouldn't think a ML would have the muscle for deeper crankbaits.

best dropshot hook
I second fourbizzle's reccommendation.

switching to braid....
With any braid you decide on, leave about half the spool of mono on to serve as a backing for the braid or else it will slip on the spool. Just connect the two lines with a blood knot or some other connecting knot.

Buying a new rod
http://www.kistlerrods.com/p/KR/c-mt-worm-fishing-jig-rods/MgSWMH70.html This is the one im looking at.

Buying a new rod
This will primarily used with T-rigs with 1/8 to 1/4 oz sinkers and 1/4 and 3/8 oz jigs. With a C-rig thrown in there very rarely, probably with a light (1/2 oz or less) weight.

Buying a new rod
I'm getting ready to buy my first "high end" rod. I've pretty much decided on a Kistler Magnesium. The only thing I can't decide on is the power. Im stuck between the MH and H. Itll mostly be used for T-rigs, jigs, and maybe a c-rig every now and then. Im leaning towards the MH, but would appreciate yalls opinion on which I should get.

Need help with revo s
There is a screw on the same side of the reel as the handle, right beside where it says Abu Garcia. It goes over to the side plate and holds it on. Just unscrew it and then the side plate should rotate clockwise and come off. Hope this helps.

Glasses vs. Glasses
Oakley has some lenses that are called Fire Iridium. They are an orange lense, but they bring out the greens. I can wear them from sun up to sundown, and in cloudy conditions. They are very versatile lenses and Oakleys are very quality sunglasses.
