Sweeet! I love to get my fly rod out every once in a while, tie on a home-made fly, and hit the pond early in the morning. You get a lot more satisfaction out of each fish you catch.

One recommendation is maybe try a smaller leader. I use about a 4# leader, but I'm not throwing heavy poppers. Try a streamer type fly also.

Keep it up!

Bass fishing with a fly rod can be a lot of fun, I love it.  Dont worry about the size of the fish, they will get bigger with time.  Congrats on the first of many.

Use some large flyrod poppers and you will get some good size fish. Catching 2-3lb. bass on a flyrod can be alot of fun!

Once you get the casting down, try a marabou or rabbit hair leech.  My favorite  :)

Just caught my first bass on the fly a few weeks ago. I posted a pic in the southeastern forum under kerr lake. It wasn't too much bigger than that but it was a blast watching it sky. I was throwing a small cream colored popper. What did you use.
