That’s the head turner equivalent you’re talking about. In the bucoo it’s called the pitching stick last I looked. I have one in the bucoo and the expert version. Great rods but too heavy for what he wants.

I use it for lighter T-rigs. I rarely use heavy lures, for that matter. Mostly a 1/8-1/4 oz. weight. It's a very versatile rod.

You can contact our site sponsor Siebert Outdoors and ask Mike what hook is used on his finesse jigs. I don’t know any finesse jig using flipping style hooks with wire dia over .050 for finesse jigs.

Your hook set technique and sharp premium hooks are important.

I use the reel set w/ firm rod sweep hook set and don’t rely on the rod alone very successfully.

Yea I will. And I have orders jigs from him. Yep hooksetnis important but so is the rod. I’m not throwing a 5/8 jig with a huge trailer into a bush. These are 1-4 acre ponds. Long casts and work the jig back so I can cover water. Midwest ponds don’t have much for visible cover to pitch to

I fish jigs horizontal making long cast over 40 yards on average using a custom 7/16 oz and 3” to 4” trailer. The hook set suggested works. A 6’10” MF rod rated 1/4-1/2 will work for 3/16-5/16 oz finesse jigs. A MHF will also work but making longer cast requires some practice with finesse jigs.

Good fishing,

Tom

PS, I use a 6’10” Custom MHF w/12 lb FC today, mono 25 years ago.

Nice! So you get it! Yes it can I have a carbonlite MH that has a softer tip. It does ok. But my tatula  xt medium honestly just isn’t up to the task

When you take up line fast using your reel at whatever IPT (let’s use 24”) 4 fast cranks recovers 8’ of line, your rod may move the 3’. I keep the rod down pointed at the bass during the fast reeling part of this hook set. The hook has already started to penetrate the mouth tissue followed by the firm rod sweep that drives the hook though to the hook bend. The us now used to help control the hooked bass
MHF rod is better for jigs if you can effectively cast the light weight.

Thank you so much for the explanation and help! I actually ordered a MH from

falcon just a bit ago.

I bought the Low Rider Finesse Jig rod searching for the perfect light T-Rig rod (3/16 maybe 1/8 weight).  It is a great rod no doubt.  It handles 3/16 plus small plastic great, and I'd even throw a 1/4 finesse jig on it without thinking twice.  Great for a bank fishing rod.  Good length, light, sensitive.

I will always have a gripe about something, and my one gripe about this rod (besides being split grip) is that it is almost too light in the tip.  Usually I want a bottom contact rod to be as light (balance wise) in the tip as possible, but the finesse jig rod I feel like it could actually stand to be a little heavier at the tip.  A weird complaint I realize, but it's just a weird feeling and hard to describe using a rod this balanced toward the butt.  I guess I haven't really decided if this is a complaint or not, just an observation.

Either way, I'd totally buy it again.  It is a fantastic rod for light single hook baits, and while I was afraid it would be too short being a 6'10" it totally doesn't feel that way at all.

Literally exactly how I feel about the swim jig rod!!! It’s amazing even with a 3/16 jig and trailer on it. Sensitive, casts amazing and light. Although I like the tip and action lol. I’m truly impressed by falcon and will be buying more of them.

I think you are exactly right. It was designed to flip small jigs around docks. It's casts and fishes them fine also but it wouldn't be my first choice for a t-rigged plastic of any kind.

I hope my critique of the rod was clear.  When I say the tip is light, I'm referring to the balance of the rod.  The power and speed of the tip is just what I want it to be.  I fish T-rig with braid to leader so I enjoy rods that are slightly slower and lower power even for bottom contact.   Having said that, in my estimation, the rod would do totally fine with mono, or flouro mainline using 3/0 hooks and below.

I realize my first post could be taken to say the rod is slow or light in power (which it kinda sorta is), but totally capable for small bottom contact with smallish baits.

I haven’t fished min with braid yet. That’s all I fished for years and years in Florida. Now that I moved to the Midwest. I decided to try mono again. So im using suffix elite mono 12 pound. But im considering trying braid again tho

To be honest, I can't think of a single reason to use braid for every single technique.  It has cons of course, like anything else, but they are far overshadowed by the many benefits.

Obviously not everyone will agree, but I think braid will always be objectively the best option hands down.  Either way, if you're thinking about getting that particular rod you should just pull the trigger.  It isn't life changing, but a very decent rod no doubt about it.

It doesn’t hurt to try. I run 30 lb 832 on mine but I’m throwing it into a good bit of cover, almost all weedy.  For a modest or heavier hook swim jig I like the braid for that.  You’re running thinner hooks and around rock so 12-14lb mono on that rod should be banging.  Try throwing a lipless on that setup next time out also.

Thanks man! I always wanted to try the 832. I always used fins windtamer on spinning and powerpro on bait casting. I do like the 12 pound mono for sure. Just don’t wana get into the flouro scene. Cost, treatment all that.
