Looking for comparison photos Met b and Curado 70 mgl

Featured Replies

Does anyone own a '20 met b and the newest curado 70 mgl that could take some side by side comparison photos?  I am looking for overall size reference between the two and height reel would sit above reel seat.  I am assuming the met b is just a tad bigger.  I have not been able to find such comparison on google.  Thanks in advance.

Should be able to get some pics up in the next 2 days.  By memory, they are very close, almost imperceptible with the curado sitting similar height with a slightly narrower frame.

Metanium is 1-5/8" tall and 2-13/16" wide from the spool tension knob to palm side plate.

Curado 70 is 1-1/2" tall and 3" wide from the spool tension knob to palm side plate.

Metanium reel foot center is 1-1/16" to the edge of side plate.

Curado reel foot center is 1-3/16" to the edge of side plate.

Pretty dang close but Curado palms a little bit better IMO.

Wow thank you.  You are the best!  I really appreciate the break down.  I was debating on two met b's vs one of each.  I have a 70 already, but sold my last jdm met b awhile ago thinking I wouldn't need it and no longer have it for comparison.  Of course now I have two new rods and am kicking myself.  It has been awhile, and could not remember exactly how it felt.  For some reason I remembered the met b palming a bit bigger than the curado.  I wasn't sure if it was in my head.  Thank you for confirming.

@T2DM took care of ya, here's how they sit on the rod, if it helps.

I find my Mets to palm smaller than other reels of the same size.  I don’t have the curado 70, but I do have the jdm met , jdm bantam, and chronarch 150 (plus a zillion).  The three shimanos are quite similar.  The chronarch is a bit longer.  The chronarch and bantam are a little more rounded edges (like the curado in the pictures).  The met is like they tried to scrape just a little more off the profile in a couple places.  They kept the same basic measurements, but took some cutouts along the edges.

If you were debating one of each or two Mets, just get two Mets.

Well the application for this curado 70 would be a dedicated pitching jig rod. My other curado 70 is on my jerkbait rod. I like the idea of the smaller 70 on this rod as I had a curado 150 mgl on it, but just gave that reel to my son as I just bought him a new rod also. BUT, I was not liking how the 150 was palming for a pitching rod. Literally all I do with that rod is pitch jigs. And that's a staple for me so I'm wanting it to be super comfortable as it will be in my hand a lot. Kinda thinking the met might be overkill for that purpose.

The other new rod is a moving bait and treble hook rod. It's a higher end rod, and the met b would pair very nicely.

I'm just on the fence about the met b for a dedicated pitching rod.

That is true, but I have a local sale for the 70 going that makes it about a bill cheaper.

$150 for the Curado?  That's not a bad shout and so I see your dilema for an extra $100.

$162.50

I ended up with one of each.  I love the curado 70, and that price was too good to pass up.
