How’s everyone spring going??

Featured Replies

Weather kinda finally hit stable here in Iowa. I’ve had some hot streak mornings. 15-20 fish in a couple hours. Al 1-2 pound fish. I found my biggest really early spring and after that just been average. But I’d rather catch all day than get skunked!!

ponds and lakes near me started to scum up and grass in.  Which was nice to have cover to fish. Welp they treated a bunch of them and killed it all off lol. So as the ponds right near the house got good. Welllllll

Been a mostly hectic and wild spring here.

Insanely destructive ice storm dropped thousands of trees on 168 boating access points in the 12 surrounding counties, including the one we live in.

The Boat ramps were finally cleared and opened several weeks AFTER pre-spawn bite started.

Don't want to sound like a whiner but it Really was giant downer;

still is as the clean up here will take most of my time.

The few times I did manage to get out, I mined up a couple of the brown bass I always hope to find.

My next realistic shot at plus size fish will be in August.

Going to be a long summer.

Spring has treated me well thus far. I kind of needed it too, because the previous few months sucked.

I shot a nice Tom turkey in April, fished in a crappie contest with my Father and son, and have been bass fishing 3 times since our season opened 8 days ago.

I also vacationed to Florida in late March and hired a guide one day to saltwater fish, which was spectacular.

Oh man I’m sorry to hear that!!!! I hope things get better soon. She had a mild winter here in Iowa with only one blizzard and a couple small ice storms. Are you all still cleaning it up?

Nice! Glad to hear that!! Ahh I do miss living in Florida and fishing for speckled trout and reds sometimes.

Pretty crappy to be honest. Last year I had tons of time and spent many days on the water. This year my youngest is graduating high school and for some reason he is keeping me busier than both of my other children did put together when they graduated. The fishing has been good when Ive go to go but its getting there that's the problem. Got my last spring vets charity tourney on tues. and I'm excited even though from my buddy's reports It's been fishing very tough.
