Shimano Chronarch Question.

Featured Replies

I have a Chronarch and I'm trying to get it adjusted properly.  There is a knob next to the handle to adjust the drop speed.  I usually set it so the bait (whatever weight) drops very slowly.  If I set it to tightly, I can't get any distance on the cast, if I set it too loose, it's backlash city.

I know that where you open the reel there are 5 or 6 pins with little plastic pieces on them - I think it's the breaking system.  All my pins appear to be pushed in all the way.  Is there a way of setting these differently to adjust the breaking system?

Thanks in Advance to any of you Chronarch users!

Pins all the way down is off and all the out in on

I do every other one  :o

Set your free spool first then adjust your brake pins. Like Catt I adjust my pins on my Curado's (6 pins) with 3 on, 3 off.

WOW!  I went home at lunch and checked the brakes, they were all off.  I put on every other one as suggested and read the literature from Reel Mech.  What a difference!

You guys are Good!  Thanks again.

I start out with all brakes out/engauged- then disengauge them(click them in) one at a time til it is set properly to the bait I am tossing.  I generally set the line/drop knob very fast and stop the spool with my thumb as my bait hits the water- if you learn to do this you will get a lot more casting distance.

3 in and 3 out is a good compromise.  I also set the drop speed to where when the lure hits the ground, the spool stops spinning.  Once your thumb gets a bit more practice, you can loosen up the drop a bit more.
