How to move trigger forward on a baitcasting rod for easier palming?

Featured Replies

I have small hands, and have trouble palming even a 70 sized baitcaster on most rods. But, I was digging through the garage and came across an old Piscifun Phantom rod that was super easy to palm for me, even on 150 sized reels. I compared it to my other rods, and realized that the trigger on the phantom is significantly more forward. As pictured, my Dobyns Kaden 765 flip vs Piscifun Phantom, the trigger is a good 1/2 - 3/4 inch back. Has anyone found a way to move their trigger forward? Thanks!

you can't move it.  You would have to replace the entire reel seat with a different styled one.

Change your palming grip to accommodate your preferences.  Try a 2 finger in front of the trigger palming grip.  This moves your hand further back on the reel which should have a similar affect to moving the trigger forward.

I have tried that, but palming with the other rod just feels so much more comfortable. I found out that it has the fuji acsm reel seat, but I can't find any info on other rods that have it. Would you have any idea?

all you can do it look at the pictures on TW and then dig.  That trigger is pretty unique visually so scanning pictures is probably the fastest.

Might be able to get a custom rod built with that reel seat if that something you’d want?
