P5 Daemos vs Steez AGS Moving Bait Versatile

Featured Replies

Anyone know how the P5 Daemos compares to the Steez AGS Moving Bait Versatile?

I have the P5 Daemos and like it so far for ripping chatterbaits through grass edges but wondering if the MBV is similar but more versatile as the name suggests compared to the Daemos? I do like how the Daemos allows me to snap baits out of grass easily.

Looking for something to throw the following:

Primary: 1/4-1/2oz bladed jig, Spinnerbait, Swimjigs

Secondary: 1/4-3/4oz Popper, Spook, Shallow/Mid diving Crankbaits

If there’s another rod that sticks out let me know. Thanks!

X10 Bandersnatch comes to mind. Not quite the same league with P5 but nice rods.

Adrena 73MH but it would struggle with the 1/4 oz.

I believe the Steez MBV runs a little lighter than the Daemos.

Its hard to run everything you've listed on a single rod. 1/2 oz bladed and trailer is a lot of bait.

I don't think I have a rod that I'd run both a 1/4 oz popper and a 3/4 oz walker on. Adrena 610M *maybe* but it struggles with a 3/4 oz Duo pencil.

I’d run 3/8-1/2 oz more but the 1/4oz baits would just be something I’d throw in a pinch type of deal.

3/8 - 1/2 is where the MBV is said to shine.

Lots of nice rods in that price range. You could always buy another Daemos and that would be a pretty good decision.

Adrena 72M or 73MH, GLX 843 or 844, P5 Dark Sleeper if you want to step down a power, Valkyrie 71MH if you like a little glass blend, etc.

How would you compare the Daemos to MBV? I like how I can snap baits out of grass easier with the Daemos with chatterbaits. Definitely dont like glass rods. Is the MVB super parabolic compared to the Daemos? I’d be okay with a little more bend than the Daemos but not a lot. I would run braid with the MVB if that helps too

Have the Daemos and have used it for all the baits you mentioned,  except maybe a spook. I can't speak for the MBV but the Daemos gets the job done. My only complaint is that I seem to loose a few fish on this rod. I'm not sure if they are not hooked or if they are not getting pinned when I am bringing them in.

Are you loosing fish on the treble hooked baits or single hooks or about the same equally?

Single hook baits (jigs, spinnerbaits, swim jigs, etc). My first thought is that the rod is too soft but more times than not, everything's fine. Its the only rod I have that has this issue.

Yeah too soft would be the obvious guess but that’s strange. Maybe it’s not too soft to get good hookups most of the time but if it’s hooked in a weird spot then it doesn’t have the power to get the job done? Only thing I can think of.

I might try going to different line, maybe braid to leader.

On a side note, when I fished the NRX:+ BJR and the Daemos side by side,  you can really see how soft the Daemos is. The NRX has a soft tip but it loads up better. I do like the Daemos though.  It casts extremely well and is easy to use. Its probably the most accurate casting rod I have.

Now that you mention NRX+, it’s got me thinking, could I use the 873C CRR for the applications I listed above? I use it primarily as a dragging rod but never explored its full potential. I know it’s super versatile as well. A little softer than the Daemos, but do you know how it stacks up against the MBV?

Is the Dark Sleeper really a step down in power? I've always wondered how the two rods compare. I own a DS btw, considering a Daemos

I had a DS then sold it and bought the Daemos. DS feels more like the overall standard MH in the lineup. Daemos bends a little bit more

I would say the 873c to me is a stiffer rod, great for jigs, softplastic, some topwater and maybe spinnerbaits but I wouldn't use it for treble hook baits. Like you, I use it for dragging, especially football jigs. I still think the Daemos is the most versatile.

As far as the MBV goes, I really dont know anything about it.
