Is Kittery Trading Post a reputable place? I've never heard of them before.

Ah... looks like you went further in the purchasing process than I just did. Thank you.

Ok how about a Piscifun Torrent? Looks like you can get their casting 7' MH in a 2 piece.

Although I can’t speak about their rods I will say I  “tried” a lower end reel and couldn’t get rid of it fast enough, but I cannot recommend their Carbon X spinning reels enough and still have and really like a baitcaster I purchased from them many years ago. My point is as you’re trying to stay in a tight budget I say go for it and I probably shouldn’t have said “NO” to the Kast King rods either as again I’m extremely impressed with my Speed Demon rod. If their rods and especially the Torrent rods which I believe have been around quite awhile are 1/2 as good as the Carbon X reels I for one think you’ll be very pleased.

If that is your budget range on equipment then go for it. I haven’t dealt with budget gear in decades but @Eric 26 has a good understanding of many different lower end pieces of equipment that fishes well above its price range..

Good luck and Happy fishing.

More than pleased with a couple Kastking cheap reels I got just to try out

(Spartacus II) baitcasters. I’d say checkout Bass pro shops brand rods.
I’ve bought many, and not expensive ones, and always thought they were great for the $
