Oiling question

When you oil the levelwind on a casting reel, do you also oil the bar it runs on, or the associated guide bar? Or do you leave these dry and just clean?

I give each a small drop of oil with a little KVD Line and Lure in the line guide itself.

my vote, a film of oil where you don't need it simply becomes a dirt magnet.

Pawl needs oil in its sleeve, worm gear needs the lightest grease, lightly at each end where the pawl turns.

I usually hit mine with a shot of PTFE (Teflon) dry lube. Doesn’t collect dirt and dust, and maintains a pretty good lubricant film.
