Plastic Trailer Longevity

Featured Replies

Let me ask a trailer question to the collective; how soon do you pre-rig your plastic trailers (?), when you’re at the water or a week/day or hours ahead of time?

Most plastic are impregnated with some sort of attractant/salt so has rigging lures a week or days ahead of time been an issue? I usually pre-rig my swimbaits, spinnerblades and under-spins and store in a “up next on deck box”.

Typically I rig up my lures ahead of time and may not fish for a week but not sure if this a deterrent or perfectly acceptable. I do make sure not to cross contaminate different brands (Z-man elastech with Power baits or Yamamoto etc.) to eliminate the brands from breaking down each other.

Anyone have issues with adding trailers and letting them sit? Any specific brands that can create issues other than elastech?
