Shimano Compre Rod

Featured Replies

I am thinking of getting a Shimano Compre rod for my Abu Garcia 4600c3, I am looking at the 6 1/2 ft in a medium action. Two questions: Is the medium action ok or would I be better served gettin a MH, also what which would be better a fast or extra fast tip. I forgot to mention that this is going to be a general purpose rig for now.

For general purpose I would get a 6'6" med-hvy fast tip rod. Just my humble opinion.

I have two Shimano Compre CPC66x-m.  (Extra fast, medium action).  I fish smallmouth with them, using Shimano Calcutta 151's.  I can cast a 1/4 oz wt 60-80 feet, depending on how much I put into it. ;D.  I think they're great rods (I also have two spinning Compre's.)

Thanks for the reply's guys, looks like the 6'6 medium heavy fast tip is going to get the nod. I'm thinking about even getting a revo sx or citica100d to go on it instead of the 4600 c3.

Im a very optimistic person but my friend has a compre and it seemed to be under rated he has a mh and it is whippy? i didnt really like it but thats just mpo many may love it u may love it to bad rods/reels wernt like golf clubs where u could demo them :-? im about be rich lol 8-) nobody steal my idea  :'( but for reel a fishing shop with a pond behind it to test out gear would be awesome

Hmmmm,. .. shop + pond... test fishing gear....hmmmm

You got a "patent pending" on this ???? ;D ;D

There are lots of fly fishing shops that will let you test the equipment in a special area (indoor or outdoor).

Wolud  be nice to have a place to test the product before you buy !!! Especially if you planning on dropping a couple hundred $$$$( not my case). But you might find out that an $ 600 combo is not that much better than the $200 combo, and not spend the extra dough...So the shop would loose some big ticked sales...and profit. I don't think they'll go for it  :)

It would of been done long time ago if it would be profitable.
