seems like a simpler set up.  especially for a kayaker.

Should be good for your kayak application and cost around 1K for multiple function TD  simplifies sonar use.

Tom,

Should a separate battery (other than the TM battery) be used?  Thanks for your input.

Trolling motors are notorious for causing interference with sonar units.  So the best case scenario is a separate battery.

Nocqua makes a great compact lithium battery that comes with charger and all for around 150. I could run my 93sv for a couple of days on the 10 amp battery.

Normally I would agree. But I’ve owned three of those.  100% fails.  All three would max charge to 12.01 volts.  Around there.    I still have two I use to run a tiny LED light string.  (At camp)
 

Even new they ran a 73 series fush finder for a day max. 

I hate to hear that.i don't know how true it is but I read somewhere that yak attack no longer uses nocqua and now has there own. When I repurchase I'm going with the 20 amp this time with another one for a spare for at night. I love how compact they are.  I mount them in the yak attack battery box under my thwart on my canoe so they're completely out of my way
