  1. A good cart is definitely a necessity on that hill. I love my Yak Attack bar cart. It's great for kayaks and canoes.
  2. You said it perfectly. I sold my Skeeter because it just sat because I enjoyed paddling my kayak. Then I tried a canoe and really like the extra space I have in it. It's about 100lbs and I can average 3 1/2-4 mph on my local lake. I avoid lakes with a lot of boat traffic because for the most part they have no respect for others especially tournament guys. I've actually had a father and son in a Ranger try to capsize my wife and myself. They kept running circles around us. Nothing beats the sound of the paddle in the water. I'm 61 with several physical limitations and sometimes it's a struggle but it's worth every bit of the effort.
  3. I really hate winter and I'm down south. I think I'd lose what little bit of my mind I have left if I lived up north.
  4. I did my basic at Ft.Dix the summer of 85. Then 4 years later processed for Germany there. I liked it up there.
  5. US Army Lee Barracks Mainz West Germany 89-92 Fort Carson Colorado 93-95
  6. My cousins are Turnages. I know the Byrds and Quarrles she taught at the elementary school and at that time headed up the soccer program there. Im hoping to head to north Alabama to do some paddling this summer. I'm praying that my VA rating gets increased between now and then. Id love to be able to swing by Terrapin Creek and possibly get a lighter canoe. That'd make my life so much easier. Esquif has a 15 ft canoe that weighs about 50 lbs compared to mine thats just under a 100 lbs. Most of the time its not an issue but we came across a downed tree this past summer and had to go up the bank and around it. Had my firefighter son in law not been there I'd have been in trouble. With a lighter boat thats just as stable I won't have to depend on others as much. Im looking forward to paddling your area. Im hoping to stay over there several days
  7. Thanks. I wish I was where you are. If my situation was different we would be. Im originally from Selma. I lived in Florence with my cousins on and off during the 80s and joined the Army in 89. When I got out in 95 I came back here and my ex went back to Selma which is one reason I didn't lol. I had plans to leave and go back to Colorado with my son which was my last duty station but met my wife and I'm still here 27 years later lol. But to answer your question I am and have always been an Alabama fan being that I grew up an hour from Tuscaloosa. I do feel bad for Ole Miss though. They kinda got screwed
  8. I'm just south of Brandon. I used to live in Florence
  9. My name is Kenny. Im 61 years old. I've had boat kayaks and canoes. My preference is leaning more to canoes for the functionality. I love to paddle but also do it because it's the best way I know to stay loose due to my Parkinsons. Ive mostly ultralight fished but I just sold a couple of rifles and took the money and invested it into Daiwa Tatulas and Cashion rods to focus more on getting better at bass fishing. Im considering entering a few kayak tournaments next year if I can make a couple upgrades on my canoe. Ive really enjoyed what I've read and participated in with this discussion board so far. There's not the drama that is on Facebook. Thanks again and I look forward to learning and talking about fishing
  10. I hate to hear that.i don't know how true it is but I read somewhere that yak attack no longer uses nocqua and now has there own. When I repurchase I'm going with the 20 amp this time with another one for a spare for at night. I love how compact they are. I mount them in the yak attack battery box under my thwart on my canoe so they're completely out of my way
  11. Nocqua makes a great compact lithium battery that comes with charger and all for around 150. I could run my 93sv for a couple of days on the 10 amp battery.
  12. Thanks for the technical information on resizing. This is my ride. It's a work in progress. I love the shallow v hull because 98 percent of the time it glances to one side or the other off underwater stumps instead of coming to a stop on top of them like my flat bottom did. I just have to be mindful not to over correct myself when that happens.
