Kenny from central Mississippi

Featured Replies

My name is Kenny. Im 61 years old. I've had boat kayaks and canoes.  My preference is leaning more to canoes for the functionality. I love to paddle but also do it because it's the best way I know to stay loose due to my Parkinsons. Ive mostly ultralight fished but I just sold a couple of rifles and took the money and invested it into Daiwa Tatulas and Cashion rods to focus more on getting better at bass fishing. Im considering entering a few kayak tournaments next year if I can make a couple upgrades on my canoe. Ive really enjoyed what I've read and participated in with this discussion board so far. There's not the drama that is on Facebook. Thanks again and I look forward to learning and talking about fishing

Thanks. I wish I was where you are. If my situation was different we would be. Im originally from Selma. I lived in Florence with my cousins on and off during the 80s and joined the Army in 89. When I got out in 95 I came back here and my ex went back to Selma which is one reason I didn't lol. I had plans to leave and go back to Colorado with my son which was my last duty station but met my wife and I'm still here 27 years later lol. But to answer your question I am and have always been an Alabama fan being that I grew up an hour from Tuscaloosa. I do feel bad for Ole Miss though. They kinda got screwed

Good to get to know you. I lived in Florence from 74-92. My whole family lived, and still do live there. My mom was a teacher at Florence High. You’re only about 8 yrs older than me, so I know we know some of the same people. Joined the army in 93 and started hopping across the country. After moves, both corporate and military, we found ourselves in HSV.

I don’t feel bad for Ole Miss in slightest. That is coming from a diehard State fan though…

My cousins are Turnages. I know the Byrds and Quarrles she taught at the elementary school and at that time headed up the soccer program there. Im hoping to head to north Alabama to do some paddling this summer. I'm praying that my VA rating gets increased between now and then. Id love to be able to swing by Terrapin Creek and possibly get a lighter canoe. That'd make my life so much easier. Esquif has a 15 ft canoe that weighs about 50 lbs compared to mine thats just under a 100 lbs. Most of the time its not an issue but we came across a downed tree this past summer and had to go up the bank and around it. Had my firefighter son in law not been there I'd have been in trouble. With a lighter boat thats just as stable I won't have to depend on others as much. Im looking forward to paddling your area. Im hoping to stay over there several days

Welcome Kenny, I have 2 kayaks between Florida, South Carolina and Minnesota… Doing all I can to avoid blizzards, hurricanes, gators, and state income tax 👍

This board is weird. Guys - I know Kenny from MS via relatives. Also @GReb and I found out that he lives two doors down from my sister in Ms.

Hey Kenny @Gonefishing0410!

Welcome aboard! I too am a fellow Mississippian and grew up in the Columbus/Starkville area. Been living in North MS for about 18 yrs now. Relocated for work.

I’ve gotten to know @Smirak through these message boards & hit it off after we found out we both attended Miss State & are Bulldog fans. Now we’re texting buddies which is a bad thing cause we’re always texting & enabling each other with our tackle & lures addictions. Not good for the bank account. 😂

Looking forward to getting to know you and to also having another MS fisherman on these boards.
