Broken BPS Pro Qualifier 2 Button

I was at the local reservoir today and snap, button broke off. I will contact Bass Pro's service center and see about getting the needed part https://www.basspro.com/b/rod-and-reel-repair

I was able to continue fishing using the reel during the course of this trip, though it felt funny to my thumb. Should be an easy repair when I get the part.

With the spool removed I was able to use a screwdriver to come in from the front of the reel and remove the button from another PQ2 reel to put on this one, since I use this gear ratio more.

A shame the A/E AMO store is closed to US IP address.

They make this part in anodized alloy.  (w/ replacement thread-locked machine screws).

Quite a nice part for $28

and here's the KDW upgrade part on my 2nd SD

enjoy the plastic threads and self-tapping steel screws

or maybe the ergonomics broke it

For everyone else, if you search Press Plate Abu, several $10 examples come up.  Shimano is also this easy to swap - you only need to remove the spool - many of the A/E metal press plates even come with the long screwdriver.  Daiwa is a booger, because it's the last thing you get to with complete disassembly.

I'm not interested in aftermarket parts if they change the ergonomics. The button pictured is at a steeper angle than the normal button if I'm not mistaken. I'll be happy to just get a replacement part.

If your reel is more than a few years old they may not carry the part.  You might fins something on ebay.

Bass Pro service center can find the part. They stockpile tons of old reels they strip for those parts. Think of all the reels people have sent to them over the years and not paid for service and abandoned with them. And Bass Pro also has leftover new stock, and much more.

Another thing to consider is that Bass Pro reels share a lot of the same parts between different reels.

I'd bet they can find the part. They have always taken care of me and sent me free items on some orders. Good people!
