bass fishing at Vantage WA on the Columbia River.

Has anyone bass fished on the Columbia River out of the town of Vantage? When I was growing up we used to stop and eat at the restaurant there on our way to the West side of the state to visit relatives. I always thought it looked like a good place to fish, but never saw any boats on the water. Last year I drove by there again in on a weekend in June and didn't see a single boat on the water or trailer in the parking lot. The rip rap along the bridge sure looks fishy to me.

The restaurant is still there - different name and owners though. The fishing is .... meh. You can catch a few along the riprap, but there isn't any other structure to hold fish. It's great for pike minnow, but the bass fishing is so-so. And if you go on the south side of the freeway, there's a gigantic sand flat that will dry dock you if you're not careful - and very little vegetation to hold fish.

It looks good, but IMHO, it's best for water skiers.
