Hook for Strike King Rage Buzz Minnow

I bought some of these thinking a toad hook would suffice. But they're thick and even a 5/0 screwlock seems too small. In fact, I was considering a straight shank flipping hook with the point exposed. But I'd prefer a more weedless setup. What are you guys and gals using? Thanks.

6/0 owner, wide gap plus I think it is? Fits pretty well.

You need a lot of hook.

I bought some after someone was singing their praises on here and I'm thoroughly unimpressed so far.

Thanks. I thought at first it was right up my alley. But it does have an odd wobble in videos. We'll see. I'll report back when I use it.

6/0 with a screw lock Gammy

I used to have great success with the Rage Shad, which is similar but smaller. I guess this replaced it. I used a 4/0 wide gap on that one, so agree on the larger hook.

i ended up with the fusion. It’s the right size and not heavy wire. I love the bait but the hook hanging under it does limit how well it comes through grass to the point that a buzz bait is almost as weedless.

I have a 6/0 but it's a belly weighted swimbait hook. I was considering melting the lead off it. LOL. I probably will go wit the exposed flipping hook for the first time and decide if I even like the bait before investing more than $10 in 3 hooks. Thanks all.

Don’t sleep on the belly weighted if it’s the right size. You’ll have to fish it faster to keep it up but you’ll get better distance casting and it will track upright when you reel.

Are you guys liking these? After I saw them on YouTube I wanted to try them.

I'll report back when I've used it. It's been raining every couple hours here since Thursday. We've gotten probably 8" or more in that time. I had to put a pump under the house in the low spot to keep water away from my gas water heater, a lesson I learned a few years ago.

I am still in the ‘high hopes’ phase. I wanted an all terrain buzzbait and it definitely delivers for that. It’s part buzzbait, part plopper, part toad. You can throw it anywhere and it won’t snag. Hook bend below the body aside (body roll) it comes through everything and just keeps plopping. But after a year of occasional fishing them I haven’t had a fish hit it. I know they will work, but I just haven’t had the conditions for it when I chose that over a buzzbait AND the fish were looking up.

I have yet to catch a fish on a frog or toad this year, not that I've fished a lot. But I went to my buddy's pond last Wednesday that usually has killer frog action and no dice. The lilies had not emerged yet.

I’ve got a lot of bites in ponds on a regular toad, so these could be good.
