  1. So I have a custom bfs spool, 16 steez sv spool, silver wolf spool, and zillion sv boost spools. I put the sv boost into the silver wolf for frogs because the silver wolf has a higher gear ratio and a larger handle and knobs. Not sure if it’s aluminum or brass gear. I swap between bfs spool and silver wolf spool on my steez sv because it’s so light it balances well on the bfs rod. I use the zillion with steez sv spool and 17 thin mono for all around.
  2. I just ordered urchin weights, hooks, tungsten, and a Karashi on there. I’ve got some decent hard baits and plastics for bfs on there before.
  3. They are all very good. The center stick is a good stick bait, the muscle back and adrenaline craws are also some of my favorites. Funny enough when I found out about x zone I got their plastics for $1 a piece at a fishing show and I’ve loved them ever since.
  4. I originally spooled mine with that 15 lb j braid, but after using it for bfs for a little while decided to switch things up a bit. It casts so well and far that I have to try it with some slightly heavier lures like a 1/8 Texas rig or maybe even the bfs bladed jig. I put a full spool of my 1.2 varivas on it and I’m going to try it out.
  5. I always use a 1/8 ounce or 3/16 weight with a 1/0 cover shot or similar style hook with a keeper and thinner diameter. Throw it on 15 braid to 12 flouro and a ml expride.
  6. How were the other rods? I have really liked my Kaden 7’1 heavy. It is very versatile. I weighed my rods at one point and it was one of the heavier ones, especially for its power and length. But it is very well balanced and doesn’t feel heavy when fishing.
  7. What are your thoughts on this reel?
  8. Maybe the size of fish also affected my landing. Largest was 1.5 pounds
  9. Yes that has happened to me. A few times now.
  10. Thanks I’ll have to try that.
  11. are you using a keeper to hold it on the hook?
  12. Well, i can agree on that. I went to pick up one of the old gen on Facebook a couple years back and it felt pretty bad.
  13. Hasn’t the reel only been out since 2024?
  14. Have you tried fishing it with any other hooks? I haven’t tried the frog hooks yet because they aren’t sold around me.
  15. I have been using the gamagatsu g finesse hybrid worm hook for flukes and senkos for the past 2 years in a 3/0 size I believe and I haven’t had any issues.
  16. Hopefully it’s good. I remember the good days at tackle warehouse where it was 20%.
  17. Thanks. Do you think the split ring could have been hurting my hookups and keeping fish?
  18. Try to feel them in store. I do not fish baits that heavy but if I was looking for a reel for it, maybe check out the scorpion md and save a few over the tranx 200. The reason I would go with the shimano is based on palming. I’ve felt a tatula 150 in store which I believe is the same frame as the new 200; and it felt pretty big to me. The tranx 200 felt more comfortable. Another big consideration would be the braking systems but I don’t have experience using them with lures that heavy.
  19. That sounds like all of our dreams. Where do you fish in the Everglades?
  20. What’s the presentation then? How are you fishing it and rigging it? Thanks what about the weight/keeper also anything else I should add to my order from there while I’m at it?
  21. Ok thanks maybe the hook is too small then. Could you send the link for the hooks you’re using? Or any alternatives that I could purchase? Thanks
  22. What do you think I could be doing wrong with my setup then? Hook a little too small or setting the hook too early when I saw them bite?
  23. It was hard to insert the nail weight. The best keepers I’ve found are the rubber earring backs. Shout out tylersreelfishing for that idea.
  24. Hey guys, I wanted to make a thread for everyone trying out this lure. I have not seen it discussed very much on here, but I’m sure there’s a lot of people trying them out. I bought some because I had to see if these lures really caught fish. I mean they look crazy and don’t imitate any bait really. I fished a local pond today that I normally catch a few fish at and had mixed success. My setup was the lone star disco prickly pear 19mm with a #2 I believe treble hook from a kvd 1.5 with my line tied to the split ring and a 1/16 ounce nail weight. I’ll start with the positive. This bait definitely gets bit. I had 6 bites on it in around 30 mins at the pond. The problem is, the 3 that made it to shore came off when I flipped them onto the bank and the other 3 bit but I lost them during the hookset. I was fishing it on 17 lb mono and a 6’10 mh mf rod. A few of the bites I kind of site fished them because although it was sunrise they were just chilling in the shallows not feeding. This could have just been specific to this day of fishing, but I want to see you guys setups for these urchin baits so I can land more.
  25. Wow those are decent deals. My dicks doesn’t even sell fishing stuff anymore. A year or so before we got sportsman’s warehouse they phased it out. Then we got academy too.
