Evergreen Combat Stick
Hey guys, Has anyone used one of these rods before? I see sheels has them at $100 off, and some guy on Facebook has one listed for $80 in the 7’3 mh mf. Found it a little weird that the models weren’t really explained on the website or given an action. I have been looking for a longer mh mf rod so this could be a good deal for me. Thanks, Bryce

Expride Spinning Rod Selection
I’m fishing with it right now, it would be good up to a quarter ounce for drop shot for sure. It is rated up to 7/16 ounce

Where are you located in VA? Looks like we’ve been having good weather since all the rain passed.

Another 3 fish day this morning before work. First time trying out the chop block I’ve had since winter. The action is surprisingly good and this fish had both hooks in him. If anyone is looking for a replacement handle that is actually light weight and not huge, this heighten brand one is nice. I did have to add a shim to one side though. I’m not sure why most baitcasters come with one knob perfect and the other needing a couple washers…

Do you find it useful or unnecessary to carry a dedicated spinnerbait/bladed jig setup?
Honestly, I prefer something like a 7,3 or 7,4 mod fast medium heavy for chatterbaits. I feel like the longer length and the mod fast gets a good hook set on them. For spinner baits I like my dobyns 7’1 heavy fast. This is the same rod I use for most jigs and Texas rigs.

Expride Spinning Rod Selection
I just got the rod over winter and I’ve only used it for the weights I mentioned. I will tie on a 1/4 tonight and see how it feels. I think 1/4 would be fine but 3/16 and 1/8 would be ideal for the rod. I would go off how often you use a light vs heavy weight.

Expride Spinning Rod Selection
I have the 6’10 ml and it is a great rod for all finesse presentations. I don’t throw heavier finesse lures, more like up to 1/8 shakey head Ned rig finesse swimbait and drop shot on it. I love it for that and it balances perfectly with a Vanford. Since it is my most expensive rod, sometimes I wish I had something a little more versatile. For example, if I was throwing a weightless wacky rig I would go up to my 7’1 medium fast spinning rod.

Lew LFS speed spool gen 3 review
The reel actually palmed pretty well and was smooth. I may try one of the paramag breaked ones eventually.

Braided line suggestions for frog/Jigs
I personally like 50 pound 4 strand J braid. The 8 strand has been good for bfs in the 15 lb test too. I believe it was a smaller diameter compared to other more affordable U.S. braided line.

Fishing Clothes
I like the bassdash shirts on Amazon. Affordable and breathable they have worked well for me.

So very cold, but the fish were thick.
Way to push through and catch some good fish. Those are some nice looking bass. I sent you a message with some pictures from my lake by the way.

How Many Line Types/Weights Do You Use?
For me baitcasters are pe 1 on bfs to 50 pound braid. 12-16 mono and 12 and 17 flouro. Spinning is just 10 or 15 braid to 10-12 leader.

Looking to purchase 1st fish finder for kayak with some questions
So the whole setup would come off in 3 minutes? I have a bonafide ss107 and I’m looking at getting a striker for my first fish finder. I was thinking about just mounting it on the center dry box like other people have done. But I’m not sure if that would require the transducer to stay on normally. I am car topping so it has to all come off easily.

Yes, sort of. I am 19 now but I found out about this pond around 2 years ago. Throughout this time I haven’t fished it too often to not get in trouble and it is kind of out the way. The golf course workers basically allow me to fish by not saying anything when they definitely see my rod until the course starts to open. They have people lined up before it opens to hit so they make me leave a little early. I’m not sure what they put in there, I think some sort of baitfish, but those bass are eating good. There seems to be an overpopulation of bass and they are all still fat.

Yea, this pond is absolutely loaded with bass including a lot of small ones. It’s a golf course pond that can only be fished on very rainy days or before/after daylight. So the fish are very unpressured and eat basically anything I throw at them. I guess the first two I missed were probably due to me not being prepared.

Caught 3 fish in 20 mins before work this morning. Got 9 blowups and only hooked 3 on the berkley swamp lord frog. Not sure if it was due to smaller fish, the frog itself, or my hookset. Anyways, it was good to catch a few on the frog.

Kast King Tri-Poly line
Well keep me updated. I will probably try a spool myself. Is the diameter of the line really as small as it says on the box?
