  1. Went out Sunday during the sunrise. Water has warmed up some but it was a cold morning and my first time dealing with ice on the guides. Managed to catch a few working the ned rig like a minnow with a slow reel.
  2. they palm great and are so small in person. But they still feel very solid. My only complaint is that mine came with play in the handles and I probably need to add shims to get it out.
  3. The best curado is the 150. Probably best curado ever made. It is a small frame, 6 arm svs infinity and super smooth. You could try to find one used or wait for a tackle warehouse site wide sale.
  4. No I have never drilled anything. You cannot see through the hull to the back it is blocked off on the inside. It was used by my family members mainly camping before handed down to me, probably bought 10 years ago. Yes but I do kind of want to buy a sit on top.
  5. Jdm metanium 100 for the steez rod. You will absolutely launch lures.
  6. Ok I will try and locate the leak. Maybe there is another one that I didn’t know about. Or maybe since it’s on an awkward spot I just didn’t do a good enough job and it’s the same leak.
  7. Hey guys, So I got an ascend fs10 kayak about a year and a half ago to start my kayak adventures, and it had a hole in the bottom rear of the hull. The original leak was letting in a good bit of water, so after an hour you would have a good amount of water inside the kayak but it didn’t sink on me or anything. Originally I used jb weld and this lasted half a year. I had to redo it because it chipped off, and it was still working for me. I saw this as a temporary fix, so I plastic welded it after sanding off the old Jb weld and welded over it. I let it sit for a couple days and then took it out on the water, but after an hour and a half in the kayak there was more water in the kayak than I splashed in for sure. I was pretty sure I covered the entire area and the weld was still in tact when I took it off the water. So my question for you guys is what would you do in this situation? I got the kayak for free, I could try to find a used one somewhere. Or is there something I could have done wrong with my plastic weld? Thanks in advance, Bryce Cover
  8. Major craft bfs rods are made specifically for bass with true fast actions. I have the days 65 ul x fast and it is a true fast action but with an ul power. Looking back now I probably would have got a light power, but found this one for a good price. It is plenty powerful and may even compare to some light power rods from other manufactures. It handled a 5.8 pound bass, and brought him in too. I do fish it with braid so it has less stretch than if I was going straight flouro or mono.
  9. Hey at least you had some action. Last couple times I. Went out here I’ve been skunked. Water is still very cold in Blacksburg. Hopefully when I go home this weekend I can get a couple bites.
  10. So you ordered the spool from the Steez sv 1016? I actually have that reel and could compare both spools if I put the same line on them.
  11. So my opinion on what reel to get: Before the tariffs, maybe a year ago or so I got the tatula 100 for $130 shipped. At the time i think that was the best value. If we’re looking at just us market reels, the curado 150 definitely stands out and I would pick it over the tatula 100. It is so smooth and casts great. But, I Ben on sale it is $200. I have to agree with everyone, my pick is the zillion from Japan if you have the money to spend. It is a beautiful reel and very versatile. I think it’s just as smooth as my Steez 1016, although I do feel the difference in frame material. The zillion can cast far with the right line and it also throws light or hard to throw lures well.
  12. There is a guy called rx angler on YouTube/ instagram, text him for the code(you have to follow first) or if he has a recent youtube video it will have the code. It’s a very small percent tho. Maybe $5 off the zillion.
  13. What is the difference between this and a regular sv spool? What reel did you get it for?
  14. Is it because it’s back lashing or is something wrong with the spool where it won’t spin? Earlier today I was throwing a jerk bait on a curado 150, and I had to turn 4 internal brakes on and 5 on external dial. With 3 on inside it would backlash. 14 lb supernatural line. After I added the brake it was casting well. I have the 2020 met and it is spooled with varivas 8x pe 1.5. I have only used it once, but I was on kayak with wind so I set the brakes to 3 on inside and 4 on external dial and it was absolutely bombing them father then I could imagine. By the way, does your reel have play in the knobs?
  15. I had one of the 24 tatula 100s. In my opinion the zillion is just a much better built reel. Smoother, better tolerances, nice clicking drag. While different class of reel. The zillion also has endless options with spools to be a long caster, or even a bfs reel. For the palming, they are pretty similar in size. They palm similar for me. I also have the 17 Steez sv which palms very well, better than you would think by looking at it.
  16. Sounds like a dream come true! Good luck with the whole process.
  17. Not all rods went up. And some went up different amounts. For example, Cashion redid the element and the new element z2 is a great rod for $130. I would pick it over a fury for $20 less.
  18. Are you comparing the new generation or previous? The Steez a 2 and the new 24 Steez sv tw model I’m assuming? I own the 21 zillion sv and the Steez sv 1016 so I can help compare those possibly. I haven’t used the Steez much yet.
  19. I use a falcon lowrider finesse jig for my 1/4 ounce finesse jigs which is pretty close in weight to what you are using. It’s a med heavy mod fast. I have liked the rod so far, and it is very versatile to use with moving baits as well.
  20. Thank you. When you say McCoy are you talking about the big falls area near the junction? I have been there a couple times and caught 1. Where do you fish from the bank at parrot?
  21. Thank you. I need to just spend some time out there trying things out. Do you think it’s been warm enough to start catching them?
  22. Hey guys, So I am currently in college in Blacksburg, which is more in the mountains than where I am originally from and where I learned to fish. I don’t have a kayak here, and there are very few ponds to bank fish. This led me to the new river. I have not fished rivers much at all, only maybe one or two other times. What is the best strategy to find spots and catch smallmouth from the bank? Do any of you know of good spots for me to try around the Blacksburg area? Thanks for the help, Bryce
  23. Agree with everything said. Also I would like to add that I put the line from my tatula 100(rated 14/120) onto my curado 150(rated 12/110) and they were around the same amount full.
  24. Yeah I am not going to take apart a reel unless necessary now.
