  1. You are going to really like it, its a great reel. I would definitely recommend a reel cover though. Scratching my zillion was the reason i bought them for all of my reels.
  2. I am going to use mine for moving baits. It casts very well with the varivas 1.5 I have on it. I would say just go digitaka best price now with the tariffs. It is a great all around reel, probably my best palming and smoothest tied with zillion. I will say mine came with a lot of play in both the handle and knobs, while my zillion and steez had zero play in the handle and knobs.
  3. Going jdm is the best value. If it was me personally I like to try a variety of reels so I would add something new. I would recommend a Metanium or bantam. If you wanted another dc, the slx dc xt or th scorpion dc. The zillion is also great for everything. It is definitely personal preference and I switch line/ use the same reel for different techniques and don’t leave them on the same rod.
  4. Like the other reply this would be ideal but if you set to never backlashing then you are missing distance. If you set your tension tight you don’t have to thumb some reels when they hit the water. But this will decrease your casting distance and make the cast require more effort in my experience.
  5. I am curious to see how they are. I think that more settings is generally better for dialing in too. One click on the dial can take your daiwa from fluffing during the cast to fully backlash free, and there are 20 settings.
  6. Nice day of fishing. Where are you from? That sounds similar to how the bass were acting where I was fishing at home(Spotsylvania, VA). Mainly makes up shallow but at least one big one was up shallow with them.
  7. In the 28 acre lake I fish relatively often I generally just try to cover water. There are some traditionally good spots where fish like to sit, and I know some banks are more shallow than others. Generally I like to go to 1/4 ounce jigs and 1/8-1/4 t rigs. Weightless soft plastics work very good. I also use a 3/8 bladed jig and top water. This was very helpful. I will definitely pay more attention to previous weather and wind before going out next time.
  8. Let me know how you like it. I love the look of the black on the zillion frame, which is partially why I bought my silver wolf.
  9. Went out today and only had 1 hour and 45 mins. Ended up catching 11, but all were 1 pounders and under except this nice 6 pounder. This will be another new pb for me, even though it’s only beating my previous pb from earlier this spring by .2. Caught all fish on a wacky rig senko. Despite the wind blowing they wanted the 6 inch June bug x zone senko rather than a bladed jig. Surprised me. Caught this in my 28 acre home lake. Picture doesn’t do the head of this fish justice, it’s crazy how much wider she was than some 4-5 pounders I’ve caught before. Nice one, but skinny
  10. Sv reels are good with lighter lures but are also good with regular weight stuff like a 3/8 or half ounce. Hopefully other people will see this and give their opinions. I believe the steez a 2 would be like the zillion hd, better for heavier lures like a 1/2 ounce up. But I do know that my Metanium was absolutely sending a 3/8 ounce bladed jig. And the steez sv (17 model) was really impressing me with casting distance on the smaller 1/4 ounce bladed jig from zman that recently came out.
  11. What is your budget? I would go with a metanium 100 for bomb casting the swim jigs or a zillion. Maybe the hd zillion would be good for those weights?
  12. I’ve heard this is common with the tat 80s
  13. Which spool is that Ron? What do you use it for? By the way hawkeyesmallie that steez is really nice if you can find one in good condition for the right price. I got mine for just over 200 and love mine.
  14. Anyone who gets one keep me updated
  15. First time taking out my new bonafide ss107. Super fun and easy to stand and fish. Paddles about as fast as my old ascent fs10 which was a sit inside. On my first few casts on the new kayak I caught this 3 pounder near a log by the bank. Only had about 30 minutes to take out the kayak but it was worth it because of this guy.
  16. I guess time will tell. Mine has been good so far and I haven’t really heard that at all with other people. It isn’t as smooth as my zillion or steez or metanium, but right now it feels good.
  17. You had that happen to you? What exactly happened with the reel?
  18. Curados stay smooth and have ci4+ or plastic side plates.
  19. In my neighborhood I fish a small 28 acre lake that is the bottom of three ponds and a creek runs out of it. It is kind of similar to what you describe, really not much structure other than some shallow docks, shallow rocks in limited spots, and overhanging brush and bushes and trees. I have had a lot of success skipping under the trees and the small docks(they are not big just little wood docks) in the warmer months. In the cold months I have struggled to catch fish there just because there isn’t any deep structure I’m aware of and the deepest part is probably 15 feet. In late fall and prespawn I have had some success just winding a bladed jig until I find fish. I caught a 4, and a 3 pounder last prespawn doing that. In the later fall I have caught fish on a 1/4 finesse jig on what look like the steepest banks. My most productive spot on the lake is the beaver dam, probably have caught 50 bass there in the year and a half that I have fished this lake. The water clarity is stained 2 feet visibility.
  20. Thanks I will update when I take it out. Hopefully Friday
  21. Hey guys, Just got this new to me bonafide ss107 upgrading from my ascend fs10 for fishing ponds and lakes near me. Can’t wait to take it out it should be good.
  22. I have the expride 6’10 ml and I used to have the zodias 7’2 ml+. To me they were both properly rated for the lure range that they stated and the power. The ml+ was a little longer and just a little more powerful than a true ml with a light tip that could still throw light lures accurately. I sold that rod because it seemed like the extra 2 inches was added to the top and not included for in the handle and it didn’t balance well. The 6’10 ml expride balances perfectly with a c3000 vanford and it great for all around finesse presentations.
  23. I was doing good til I put my pics in for the wrong game last tournament…
  24. I will be careful, and trust me I believe you. I am from around fredericksburg VA and have heard stories of the rappahannock taking lives time and time again.
  25. For craws I’ve caught a lot on th adrenaline craw on a Texas rig or muscle back craw on a jig. Favorite creature bait is the d bomb no question. I’ve thrown the regular and the baby D
