  1. Maybe in crystal clear water but i cant imagine it being an issue with black in stained waters. I use Black braid on my bladed jig rod.
  2. I have 1 rod dedicated to 3/8-3/4oz chatterbaits and Spinnerbaits... A Dobyns Champion XP 736CB Glass pared with a Shimano Scorpion DC or Curado M depending on conditions.
  3. I have the Kaden 714C Travel rod and I love it. I actually use it as a normal everyday rod as well. Put some Burts Bees chapstick (beeswax) on the male ends of the Ferrule connections and they wont get stuck together. The travel case is well put together and sturdy. I took mine up to Lake Minnewanka in Banff last year.
  4. Thanks for the replies guys... Like I said, i've been using the reaction Tackle braid with no issues, but i like to try to new things every once in a while. I'll Probably just stay with what ive got unless i see a good sale somewhere.
  5. Im currently running 50lb braid from reaction tackle and havent had any issues with it when using it on my frog rod. Im looking for something that will also work well with 1/2 -1 oz jigs in mated brush/slop. Ive got a bunch or Suffix 832 that I use on other rods (10-30lb) but was looking to try something new since i need to re-spool my frog reel pretty soon. I was casting into the wind (20mph) and got the mother of all birdnests :) ended up having to cut half the reel off. I have a spool of BPS XPS that was given to me last year but ive heard bad things about it digging into the spool too easily.... TIA
  6. Honestly Id Probably leave the Foregrip as is. I would only be replacing the rear section(s)
  7. How hard is it, or is it even possible to remove the Foam/EVA style grip from a rod and replace it with Cork? I have a Couple of Dobyns Colts and Mavericks that I use as Truck rods or loaners and I prefer the feel of cork. I know they will never be like my Champions XP's but I cant stand the feeling of the foam stuff when it gets wet. TIA
  8. Not sure which lakes you fish at but it worked well on N.TX lakes.
  9. I bought 15lb. I just got it last weekend but I've been using it for Weightless TX Rigged Senko's, Chatterbaits, and Spinnerbaits. I haven't tried it for topwater yet. It literally says Mono on the box. Its a Hybrid line. Too many people are stuck on the "flouro or die" bandwagon.
  10. Anyone used this before? I bought a spool because it was on sale and so far I'm liking it better than any fluorocarbon that i normally use. Its the best of both worlds. Almost invisible underwater, SINKS, has less stretch than Mono but only a tiny bit more than Flouro. Best of all its a lot cheaper than Flouro which is nice for people like me who tend to change out lines often. Think i paid $10 for 300yards on Amazon. (for some reason its cheaper on amazon than from KastKings website)
  11. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement spool for a Abu Garcia Revo5 X? Mine is now a home for minnows and crawfish. It doesn't look like they sell them on Abu's website. I did send an email but have heard nothing back from them after a week.
  12. I couldnt even get a bite on the general last weekend.
  13. especially the basement. Thats where they keep all the cool exhibits at.
  14. Lake Fork is a good choice. Lake Texoma and Lake Whitney are a good choice for Hybrid Stripers. There are actually 3 families in my neighborhood that are from Alberta and one of them is constantly on Eagle Mountain Lake. FYI, most lakes here in North Texas have alligators in them, but they leave you alone unless they are nesting.
  15. Does anyone use a Dbl-Uni knot for braid to Floro on a rod with micro guides? Specifically the Dobyns Sierra Micro Series 704C. i can tie a dbl-uni in the dark and thats all i ever use for connecting braid to floro, but this is my first rod with micro guides.
