What brand and specific model do you guys like for chatterbaits? What line are you using?

I'm not a real experenced bladed jig user. I've tried several rods and have settled on a 7' mh fast action Falcon EVO. I skip the lures under overhangs a lot and its been my best rod for skipping. I'm using 17 lb test Suffix florocarbon. Tried 12 lb test mono and snapped my line twice this year on hooksets . I was just sweeping the rod and must have had nicks in the line. Any way I switched to heavier line. I dont know if I like the florocarbon better than say 15 lb Big Game or not. Its a work in progress.

Something with some bend to it. ALX BMJ, P5 Super Destroyer, X10 Bushadder, Adrena 73MH. All good.

Always fluorocarbon.

If we're talking Grass Piece, less bend, more fast. Spinnerbait rod, basically.

Everything in fishing is a work in progress. Always experimenting with new stuff.

It’s gonna sound silly. But depending where I’m fishing I’ll switch from a more moderate to a fast action rod. I use the moderate rod in areas with sparse or not thick cover. And the heavier faster rod in areas with more thick cover. The softer moderate tip is gonna load better and let them get the bait and pull some with out you ripping it out of they’re mouth. The faster rod you have to get the hookset down with out pulling it from them. I like 12 pound big game for a bladed jig. Casts great breaks much higher than 12 pound. And has some give on the faster rod.

I use a Daiwa crossfire $32 rod

And a falcon lowrider head turner.

Honestly I love the Daiwa for a bladed jig most of the time.

Here is what works for me, split into two different approaches based on the calendar:

Approach 1: Early & Late Season

Presentation Style: Fished like a jig: low, slow, with lots of stop-and-go. Working the bait with the rod tip and picking up slack with the reel. Rod Setup: St Croix Avid 7' Medium-Heavy, Fast action SCIII+ carbon fiber blank Line: 15 lb Seaguar Tatsu Fluorocarbon.

Approach 2: Mid-Season to Early Fall

Presentation Style: Fished as a pure moving bait: a steady, aggressive swimming presentation.

Rod Setup: 7'3" Daiwa DX Type-H Glass Reaction composite rod (same setup used for spinnerbaits)

Line: 15 lb Seaguar Tatsu Fluorocarbon
