Just moved to Texas!

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Just moved to Grand Prairie Texas a few weeks ago from Washington State. I want to go bass fishing at this lake near me and was wondering if anyone has any tips on fishing the bass here compared to washington?

Also, is this even a good time to go bass fishing?

Thanks!

In Texas you aren’t supposed to say “ Hey all . “ It’s “ Hey y’all “. Just trying to help you fit in. I live up by Amarillo but we travel to DFW every once in a while. On Hwy 35 there’s a bunch of lakes between you and Wichita Falls. Ray Roberts is around there as well.

Haha all good! Thanks for the correction and info! )

I live really close to joe pool lake. Have you heard of it or anything about it?

For whatever reason the weekly lake fishing reports for TPWD are not being posted recently. Not sure why.

Welcome to Texas.

Nearly anything with a couple feet of water year round will have bass here, including the city parks. There's a public lake in Grand Prairie by the naval air station that I see fishing reports out of some. And Fork isn't far away either.

Fishing is good all year round, but for the occasionally funky window when we get really volatile weather. Then it's still good when you can find them.

Boat or the bank?

Welcome to DFW. You’ll have to let us know when you’ve picked your most hated highway.

Joe Pool has some giants in it, fantastic fishing lake. Every major lake in DFW produces double digit bass at some point in the year. I know a guide that caught a ShareLunker there this year, I have fished with him.

Right now we are in a heat wave after heavy rains so fishing has been scattered from what I have seen. I have been on hiatus from my rods for about a month but my buddies have been struggling as have the Tuesday night tournaments.

Right now on Joe pool you probably want an ol monster in red bug or something similar, maybe give a buzz bait a whirl before sunrise

I've only been gone a few years, but it has to be 635 right? I avoided that road like it was the plague. DFW traffic for the most part really isn't THAT bad, considering the size of population.

For me, it is the Eastbound lanes of 183

Honorable mention to where 820 turns south in eastern Tarrant county
