metanium line guide movement

Featured Replies

hey,

so I have the jdm metanium 100 model, and im ashamed to say i really don't use it much. I noticed no matter what I do and redo, the line does not spool evenly. it builds up on the right side always. I let all the line out on a large lake with a heavy lure and reeled back in steady with appropriate drag and spool tension....but it still ramps up on the right side more 😡 so then I disassembled the reel to make sure the pawl was not damaged and its not.

tightened the cap on the pawl, not too tight of course. when I move the line guide with my finger there is a lot of movement and play from side to side compared to my other shimano reels. it just doesn't seem right for a reel this expensive to have that much play and slop. does anyone else experience this with their metanium? is this a thing? I really have no idea what else unless its just defective but its hard for me to believe that either because I can catch a fish on it without issue. either way the side to side slop really bugs me and makes me suspicious that this is why the line will not spool evenly

All 3 of my mets have quite wiggly line guides but they spool up even no issues. 2xjdm 100 and a usdm 150.

so I guess the line guide moving so much is normal, but now im even more confused why it does not spool evenly
