What I was suggesting is that if he uses glue, the brake can be pushed on the glue, creating surface to surface contact with frame and the brake. This will make for a stronger hold and allow him to push the glue into the crack. Sort of like how the cover of a book is glued to pages (if that makes sense).

Have you actually done it to one of your reels and has it worked and not mess up anything up?

I would just super glue it. Just make sure using only a tiny bit so the residue won't affect the spool balance.

Or you can resort to Japan or Chinese used market. There are many merchants there disassembling a whole reel and selling parts.

Have you tried superglueing a VBS brake collar like that has it worked out for you?

Not on that part but I used Gorilla glue on my Daiwa Silver Wolf on the zero adjuster (cast control cap) that would not stay in place and on a stripped line guide cap as well. Both are still holding.

Heat a nail and weld it. Brian.

Not on specific part like this, but I super glued small reel parts before and it's been working so far. I would recommend gel instead of liquid, as the latter would flow everywhere. Gels take more time to heal, but much easier to control the placement and volume.
