Title says it all, looking at purchasing a boat this weekend but have been unable to find somewhere with an electrical connection to charge the battery bank (Ranger Z518).

Any kind of solar charger or device that I could charge at the apartment and then leave it hooked up to the boat to charge the batteries?

There are a lot of solar chargers on the market, or there’s the option of an inverter power supply. I’ve charged my batteries off the inverter a couple of times in a pinch, but never have tried it on a consistent basis - should theoretically be no problem, but I don’t have any real world data on it.

I really don't think there is a good solutions to this problem. Let's assume that everything is 100% efficient which it is not. You need 120 watts to provide a 10 amp charge to a battery. You can get that from 50 inch by 30 inch solar panel for a few hours a day if the sun is shining. You have multiple batteries so you would need multiple panels or you could charge them one at a time over several days. Solar panels are expensive so you have to worry about someone stealing them. They would be bulky to store when not in use.

A generator is a real option if you're comfortable leaving it running at your apartment. You also have to worry about someone stealing it.

In my opinion the best option is using lithium batteries and pulling them out of the boat for charging after each trip. It's a bad solution but I think it's your best option.

When I'm at home my kayak is stored in the garage and I charge the batteries in place. But when I'm traveling on the road I bring them in my rental unit (two 100Ah and one 18Ah) and charge them in the unit. It's not a big deal for me, although it might be more of a pain to get them in and out of your compartment in the boat.
