Another cork question...

Featured Replies

I put new line (30 lb braid) on my baitcaster a couple weeks ago, and the blueness has worn off the line and onto the cork. Tried some of the conventional stuff and it aint cuttin it. Suggestions?

What stuff did you try so far?  Did you try Magic Eraser with denatured alcohol?  It might be dyed though.  I don't know what would be a good way to get dye off.

hand soap and a scrubbing pad work great on dirty cork.

Once you get them clean, seal them, won't happen again.  Reelmech sells sealer on his site.  Great stuff.

By conventional stuff what do you mean?

If it is a dye, and has soaked into the cork you probably won't get it all out.

What ever you do don't  use to heavy of an abrasive or you will change the shape of your grip. I recommend trying denatured alcohol and a heavy/course cloth.

The denatured alcohol will act as a solvent and will not soak into the grip (quick evaporation).

Then if and that is a big if you get the surface cleaned seal that grip...

U-40 Cork Sealer...

Good Luck.

Tight Lines!!!
