What knot do you guys use with braid and flouro

Featured Replies

I've recently switched from using almost all mono to almost all flouro line and I will occasionally use power pro braided line.  My question is what knots do you guys use for flouro and braided line.  I used to use a trilene knot and haven't broken off because of a bad knot in like 4 years. I used this knot on flouro line and it held up for awhile but I think it broke off one day. I switched to a palomar knot and havent had a problem but I was just wondering what you guys use.

Welcome to the board! Sorry to give you a hard time on your very first post but you could try looking at the links below. They are currently active forum questions near the top of the "Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, Leaders, and Knots " section along with your question.

I use a Palamar knot on everything.  I'm going to rethink that knot on spinnerbaits.  About the only time I've had that knot fail me was on a spinnerbait.

Welcome aboard!

(Cephkiller: That's not harsh at all, just helpful!)

;)

I also use the palomar but when tying fluorocarbon use a little more caution, because poor knot tying it the main reason for flourocarbon break offs.

Like you, I recently ventured into new lines as well....and I have had the same questions!  Here's what I've settled on for now (with good luck so far....)  For braided, I ALWAYS use a palomar, and have had positive results (i.e. several nice fish, incl some nice stripers on topwater, with NO break-offs).

With fluoro-, I'm still using a Trilene knot, same as I did with mono.  Maybe this is what you're "supposed" to use, maybe "knot" (hee hee), but either way...it has worked so far.

Good luck, and Tight Lines!
