Daiwa Tierra review

Featured Replies

Best spinning reel I ever owned.

Drag is smooth as silk, has micro increments that have a nice metal click to each one, sweet.

I bought the bigger one, planning on using it for saltwater when the blues get in so it's a little big for bass but I truly love this thing.  Weight is great.  The handle, I love it.  I torture all my gear, I saw the finish on this and thought for sure it would look like crap in a month.  3 months later, I can't even scratch it.  Awesome.

I don't know if it is partly due to the rod it is on (the one flechero built me) or a combination of the 2 but my casting distance w/ a trick stick gained about 10-15 ft.  That's a whole new world in my clear water lake.

I plan on buying the smaller one as soon as I get caught up with the finances.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

$130 is about as high as I'll justify on a reel and I will have no regrets paying that for another one.

Great inforation ;),  I've being waiting to here more about the Tierra.

I've been using a Tierra 2500 for a couple of months and find it is my favorite reel. I 'd rather switch lures on the Tierra/ Fenwick combo instead of picking up the Stradic/ St.Croix laying there all ready tied on. With a 6 1/2' Fenwick HMG I am casting farther and more accurately then ever before with no fatigue. and no line handling problems at all! Great Reel!!!

Hmmm, I've never owned a Daiwa Tierra, but now you've piqued my curiosity.

TackleTour said that if the Tierra was priced $40 higher, they wouldn't flinch.

Check out that kool blue finish 8-)

I have one too. Pretty solid little reel ( a 2000). Its not my favorite, but it is a GREAT bang for the buck.

all my casting reels are shimano and all my spinning reels are daiwa. I think the tierra is ALOT better than the stradic too.

Gonna enjoy watching this!

Nah, there won't be a flame, the Tierra is too new to have a following.

I've owned stradic's and think they are great reels too.  I would buy another Tierra first but that's just my opinion.

We haven't had it in the salt water yet.  Due time will tell how it holds up there.  I'll pull this thread back up when it goes for a dunk.  We are fishing stripers tomorrow but they are very finicky this time of yr.  Flies are best so that will be the protocol.
