Doubtful...  maybe you should wait until you are in Dallas or Rockwall in the near future and just buy them in person.

Take it out of the box, spool on some line, put it on a rod and then make some practice casts to test all the functions?

;D

Yeah, right.

i dont see why not.  i am sure they like cabelas has a team of people that are testing new products to see that it is worthy of selling under there name.   at least they arent  going out in the blizzard to test the latest clothing for deer hunting like they have to do for that line of product.

Absolutely NOT. This is not a mom and pop operation.  The do like a gazillion dollars worth of business. They have many many many tractor trailer loads of stuff going out every day. They have 100 people answering the phone. There is too much to do to check out stuff that mfgs should have checked out.

This little company ships out hundreds of millions of dollars worth of stuff every year. In the home store alone they do over 1/2 billion dollars worth of stuff from the 3 million or so visitors.

If you want it checked out, you will have to do it yourself.

Doesn't QC happen at the factory in which the reel was manufactured?  I thought they only checked a percentage of the reels off the assembly line too?

i am assuming that shimano has a big problem here and with all the returns going back to BPS i would thiink BPS would go the extra step and try to help with the problem.  this sounds like an unusual issue so in order to keep customers happy an unusual effort needs to be made.  under normal circumstances

of course this kind of request wouldnt happen

I don't think there is a big Shimano problem.  I live close to the main BPS store.  They have their outlet next door where they get rid of all kinds of stuff.  They take returned reels fix them up and sell them by the thousands.  I have not bought any of them but I look at them every week or so when I am in the store.

I have been checking them out for several years and have only seen 2 Shimano reels.  There are hundreds of house brand, Pfleuger and Quantums every day.

blanked,

will BPS inspect a reel before they ship
