Rod wraps for rod handles?

Featured Replies

Does anybody use a rod wrap for their cork handles? Mine are getting pretty tore up from all the use, was thinking about getting some wraps for them? Anybody got some reviews on how well they work, and where do you get them?

I thought that they were just another gimic to get your money.  I saw some at the Bass Pro shop outlet store for $2.66 so I gave them a try.  I have been using them for about 5 months.  I don't plan to ever be without them again.

I was in the store last week and they had a bunch more so I bought up for the future.  BTW:  If you buy large or XL there will be enough to do two rods from the reel down.  That is all I ever touch and lets me take the reels off without moving the wrap.  I also use them to color code rods.

I'd bet that the filler came out and the pits are now black (or close to it)  If they are that bad, just clean and refill the cork.  It's quick and easy to do.

As for wraps, I don't use them but there are a handfull of guys here that do.

I use rod wrap on some of my rods, for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and cranks. I find it to help with maintaining control, seeing how I change hands between the cast and engagement of the reel. Reel Grips seem to help alot too. A cheaper and easly found alternetive is Tennis racket wrap. Wal-Mart, Target and K-mart carry it and comes in alot of different colors.

I like them, but I don't like paying BPS's prices.  Been meaning to get a couple of racket wraps and try them out.
