Airrus vs. Kistler

Featured Replies

Hey guys! I am looking into purchasing a new rod....I need your help. I am stuck between the airrus puls-r or the kistler magnesium. What are some good/bad things about them. I was also looking at the airrus ultra xl (i think thats what its called) but i dont think I would like the removible butt section. What do you all think?

Neither one are made by G.Loomis or St. Croix... :;)

As I have said before Kistler makes the best rods out there IMO.  I will take a Kistler any day over loomis, st.croix, airrus, or any other brand I have used.  Try one and if you don't like it I'll buy it.

i have 2 kistlers and an airrus. i have one Helium 2 LTX 7' Medium Fast Action paired with a lefty steez, and line, weighs 10oz, and can toss 3" weightless senko 60-75 ft. this is my all around goto combo for weightless or light lures. then i got a puls-r 7'3" mh paired with a lefty calais dc, this setup comes in at a pound even, and is used for t-rigs, cranks, spinners. then i got a Helium 2 Heavy Casting Telescopic 7' 6" with a lefty fuego, loaded with 30# ultracast, soon to be sufix braid. this is for jigs, froggin, and ripping cranks through weeds and lillys. these 3 seem to be sensitive and tough, and am very happy with their performance. dont think you can go wrong with either choice. my next rod will probably be a carrot stick from the same creater of airrus paired with the newer steez.

Depend of what you are using it for. I love the tip of the Ultra XL MH for jigs. ( I use it in front of any of my IMX or GLX for this porpuose ) I like a lot the Puls-R for heavy soft platics. Negative to all of them is their weight. I also don't like cork much, neither a foregrip of any kind [ go Airrus ].

Airrus does't have a rod that can match my Kistler LTA ML for light lures, they also don't have a better spinner or senko rod than GLoomis, IMO.

I have experience with their warranty and costumer service.....there is no way than anyone can even get close to them. The best out there w/o comparison, one phone call and I got a new rod at my door steps, no fees or questions asked.

Which company are you referring to?

I would stay away from Airrus now that the founder has left.    Kistler seems to be a hit or miss thing.  If you get a good one then apparantly it's a dream wand,  but their QC is unreliable, so you pays yer money and yer takes yer chances.  IMHO.

You can take RW's comment and he took the words out of my mouth.  I don't own any quality rods that arent loomis or st crox, but I am curious about the kistlers.  Too many people who I respect, really like them so...................
