getting another rod + reel

Featured Replies

I currently have a 6'6" BPS extreme M action with a pflueger president 6740X. I would like to get another rod and reel so I have 2 setups I can bring with me. For the reel I will be getting the new stradic when it comes out, probably 3000 size.

For the rod I wanted to spend about $100 so I was looking at the St Croix Premeire. Is this the best rod for my price point?

Also I was looking at the Avids, whats the point of having a 6' rod, 6'3", 6'6", 6'8" and 7'. You usually only see 6' 6'6" and 7'.

Thanks!

I'm sure the new Stradic will be SWEET, but unless the 2500 series is being renumbered, you DO NOT want a bigger reel for bass fishing. The St. Croix Premier is pretty well regarded, but the Avid series is where St. Croix really begins to shine.

I like 7' rods better than 6 1/2', but I have both. It's really a matter of personal preference.
